Rachel Weisz Lovely Bones Premiere

The countdown of my favorite red carpet looks I’ve created continues with the stunning Rachel Weisz. I’ve been working with Rachel since 2005 and I adore her! She is such an inspiration to work with and we share a belief that hair should always be soft and touchable and just a little “un-done.”

For the Los Angeles premiere of her film The Lovely Bones I wanted to keep Rachel’s hair down so I put a volumizing mousse in her hair and gave her a classic round brush blowout. I never like Rachel’s hair to be too perfect so after her hair was dry I warmed a small amount of TIGI Bed Head Stick in my hands and then raked the product through her ends for a little piecey-ness and movement. I think Rachel looks cool and modern this way and I LOVE that wind in her hair on the red carpet!

Lea Michele’s Glee Academy Up-Do

Lea's up-do

Lea Michele's up-do

I know I’ve said before that I love my job, and I know I’ve said before that I love working with Lea Michele, but I want to be perfectly clear here….

I LOVE MY JOB AND WORKING WITH LEA MICHELE IS AN ABSOLUTE DREAM!

The other night was the Glee Academy event in Los Angeles so I went to The Music Box Theater in Hollywood to see the lovely and talented Lea Michele and get her ready for the event.  I was so happy we were getting her ready at the theater because that meant that I could see the rehearsals for the event with the whole cast!  You have to understand that I am a HUGE GLEEK, I am absolutely obsessed with this show and I follow religiously on twitter, so it was a dream come true to watch them perform live in such an intimate setting and I get chills every time Lea so much as hums a few notes while I’m doing her hair.

For this event I wanted to put Lea’s hair up to show off that amazing Reem Acra dress so I put some Dove Curl and Sculpt Defining Mousse (I LOVE this stuff!) in Lea’s damp hair and then blow dried with a round brush.  Next I took 3 inch sections of hair and wrapped each section around a 1 inch curling iron to create waves all over.  Then I started gathering random sections of hair and giving each section a twist and securing with bobby pins in the back of the head letting layers fall out of the twists for softness.  It looks like a large, twisted, soft chignon which is exactly what I was going for!

Matrix Men Style Power Styling Shampoo

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

“This shampoo helps my hair hold style—otherwise it can fall flat.” “I’m a big gamer geek—I’m huge into Microsoft and the Xbox. Right now I’m playing Modern Warfare 2.”

The Hunger Games by Susan Collins

“I’m a huge surfer; I absolutely love to surf. There’s a beach up in County Line that I go to a lot—every time I go up there’s rideable waves, so it’s a perfect.” “This is the first book in a three part series. If anyone is into post apocalyptic love stories, this is the book. It keeps you on edge; it’s suspenseful.”

THE THREE-STEP FACE

When it came to prepping Malambri for this shoot, groomer Gia Harris had it pretty easy. Fellas, take note: This three-step process is her go-to men’s routine.

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer

Step One: Prep skin with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer. The lightweight lotion absorbs quickly, leaving the complexion nourished and soft, not greasy.

Homeoplasmine

Step 2: Work a dab of Homeoplasmine into the lips. “This amazing skin abrasion ointment is available online and in most French pharmacies. I love it because it moisturizes without looking too shiny. Rick is already gorgeous enough without glossy lips!” says Harris.

Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets

Step 3: Swipe away sweat and grease with Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets. “They’re so much better than powder,” Harris says.

HAIR HOW-TO

To give Malambri’s hair a bit of weight and texture, Townsend warmed a dab of American Crew Fiber Pliable Molding Cream between his palms before smoothing it into the strands. “It’s an incredible product because it gives you that hold without looking crunchy,” says Townsend.

MARKTman: Rick Malambri

Rick Malambri, star of the upcoming Step-Up 3-D, isn’t your average good-looking LA actor. He doesn’t tan, he hates shaving, and he’s not into LA girls. “I’m not huge on the whole out-on-the-town look,” he explains. “I think you have to have some class to catch someone’s eye.” (Not that he’s looking—Malambri is happily married to the raven-haired beauty that appears in these photographs!) And don’t expect to spot Malambri on Rodeo Drive in a glittering Ed Hardy tee or a trucker hat anytime soon. “I go for a very casual look: Jeans, an American Apparel shirt and a military-looking baseball hat,” he says. He takes a similarly unconventional approach to his career. Rather than using his chiseled jawline and artfully disheveled hair to star in a string of frat-boy movies, he’s chosen interesting, eclectic projects. This year, he’ll play a retired rodeo cowboy in the Hallmark Channel’s After the Fall, a rich kid in Holiday Heist and a dancing film director in Step Up 3-D. “I have to work hard not to get pigeon-holed, but that’s always been really important to me,” he says.

Ashley Olsen 2009 MET Ball

I have had so many great and fun red carpet moments with Ashley Olsen over the years but I think this one is my favorite! Ashley is like my hair muse and she is such an incredible inspiration to be around and work with. Ashley and her sister Mary-Kate are responsible for setting some of the biggest trends in fashion and beauty and I feel like the luckiest guy on Earth every time I work with them.

This event was just after I cut about 6 inches off Ashley’s hair so I wanted her to wear her hair down and it worked perfectly with the backless dress she designed for the MET Ball. I sprayed Biolage Bodifying Spray Gel in Ashley’s damp hair and blow dried with a large round brush to get volume in the hair. Then I took 3 inch sections of hair and sprayed Vavoom Gold Heat Iron-In Control on the hair and then ran a flat iron over the section. This spray protects the hair from the heat of the iron and gives the hair incredible shine!

I think Ashley looks so beautiful, modern, and fresh here, just like her!

Deborah Ann Woll makes a pretty convincing vampire—and not just on TV, as newbie bloodsucker Jessica Hambly on HBO’s True Blood. Take, for instance, her taste for blood. “It actually isn’t that bad!” she swears. (As Woll describes it, fake blood can either be syrupy sweet chocolate or pureed fresh veggies, depending on what kind of wound it’s fictionally leeching from.) She’s also, clearly, equipped with nerves of steel. “I’m not squeamish and I don’t get scared. A part of me really enjoys filming the gross or weird parts. I find that intriguing,” she says. And perhaps most like her character, the 25-year-old Brooklyn native underwent a major life transformation: At age 15, the towheaded Woll marched to the drugstore, selected the prettiest red dye she could find, and changed her life for good. “I had perfectly nice blond hair but I felt I was being overlooked. Now being a redhead is part of my identity. I might go blond for a role, but I’ll always be a redhead,” she says. (And yes, even to this day she still dyes her own hair.)

It’s exactly this self-willed, constantly evolving and fearless attitude that piqued our interest here at MARKTbeauty. What follows are frighteningly gorgeous photos of this red hot starlet. They might take your breath away—but we promise, she doesn’t bite.

MAKEUP MOMENT

For this smoldering look, Townsend tucked Woll’s hair into a faux bob and Black rimmed her eyes in black liner and smudged brown, bronze and copper shadows. To give her face extra dimension, Black contoured the cheekbones with a mix of blush and bronzer. “For a truly nude lip, apply a bit of lip balm to bare lips or mix a touch of tinted moisturizer into your lip balm,” advises Black.

“It’s hard to keep reds from fading, but this gives me the longest life with my color. It also smells like fresh herbs from the garden. Yum!” “I’m definitely a basics kind of girl. This plus sunscreen is really all I use on a daily basis. It’s the lightest lotion I’ve found with the biggest impact.”
