MAKEUP MOMENT
“January is meant to be a real muse character—a woman who existed in Montparnasse in the ’20s, who inspired art and music and literature,” says Goodwin. This look was all about an avant-garde eyebrow, painterly shadow and a rich berry lipstick. “The eye is quite messy and undone. I wanted it to look like brushstrokes,” says the makeup artist. Rather than sweeping on perfect strokes of shadow, Goodwin blended and layered tons of powder all the way up to the brow. As for the lip, she applied it with her fingertip: “There’s no hard edges and it’s imperfect. She’s embodying a woman that’s unconventional, and I wanted the makeup to reflect that.”
