Have I ever mentioned how much I love my job? Because I really really do!
Yesterday I headed to Midtown Manhattan to get the amazingly beautiful and talented Lea Michele ready for the 2010 TONY Awards, which is pretty much my dream job, but honestly any day with Lea is dream. I arrived at her hotel and saw the amazing Zac Posen dress she had chosen and went to work on her hair. It was pouring down rain and brutally humid in NYC but I could not allow my girl to have a head full of frizz on the red carpet so I put a few drops of Dove Frizz Control Taming Cream in her wet hair and blow dried with a large round brush. After all her hair was dry I ran a few more drops of Taming Cream through and gathered all the hair behind her right ear and braided it and then looped the braid into a low chignon at the right side of the nape of neck and secured with dozens of hair pins (that hair wasn’t going anywhere!) Make up artist _____ put the finishing touches on Lea’s red lips and she was out the door and thankfully the rain stopped just as she was leaving!
The fun didn’t end there because _____ and I walked over to Radio City Music Hall to get set up in Lea’s dressing room so we were ready to do a quick change for her performance of Don’t Rain On My Parade. I quickly took out Lea’s chignon and put her hair in a ponytail with some height on top and pushed her bangs to the side while _____ changed Lea’s lip color and eye makeup. We did the change and Lea started her vocal warm ups, and let me tell you, being in the room for that gave me chills, her voice is out of this world!! Lea gave the performance of the night and it was so cool to be backstage and even UNDER the stage at one point while racing back to her dressing room to get her back into the first look so she could watch the end of awards.
It was such a magical night, one I will never ever forget!
