Jennifer Lawrence

For actress Jennifer Lawrence, 2010 is going to be huge. For starters, it marks the release of her first big movie, Winter’s Bone, in which she stars as a serious, strong-willed girl from the Ozark Mountains. Perhaps more excitingly, come August, Lawrence bids goodbye to her teen years to celebrate her 20th birthday. To prep for what is sure to be a celebration studded year, hairstylist Mark Townsend and makeup artist Rachel Goodwin took this young starlet to beauty bootcamp, experimenting with a wide range of edgy, glamorous and downright gorgeous looks. So take it all in. What follows are five jaw-dropping images of a face you’re sure to see more of.

“My people tell me what I can get away with, so someone would probably stop me before I walked out of the house with orange lips, but I’d totally go for it,” Lawrence says of this bold look. “I was going for a shocking contrast and playing with textures and tones,” Goodwin said. “I used a full coverage matte lipstick and a sheer pastel eye shadow. This is an example of why it’s okay to occasionally break beauty rules, like pairing a strong eye and lip—the results can be gorgeous!”

“I love when my hair is wavy and soft. I’d definitely wear this on the red carpet,” said the actress. To create the style, Townsend worked a dollop of Dove Curl & Sculpt Defining Hair Mousse into Lawrence’s damp hair and blew it dry with a Spornette mixed bristle brush before setting the hair in medium-sized rollers. “Caruso Molecular Steam Rollers are perfect for creating gentle waves—not tight spirals,” said Townsend. “I let them cool in the hair for about 20 minutes, then took them out and brushing through the curls with a paddle brush.”
